Commissioner's Awards

The Best of the Best

The WSDA Agricultural Fairs Program provides approximately $2 million in financial assistance to agricultural fairs and youth shows each year. The appointed seven-member Fairs Commission assigned Commissioners to visit and evaluate the 66 participant Fairs in the program on a biennial basis. These members are Fair-a-holics, looking for the amazing things that Fairs do, and then shares that information. They also have some important duties including auditing all required reports and information from participating fairs, and verifying that fairs operate in compliance with state law.

One of the greatest joys of the Fair visits, is spending time with the many individuals that come together to make Fairs successful, whether it be professional paid staff, highly committed volunteers or the Fair exhibitor. This is where ideas are shared.

Another joy is the presentation of the Fairs Commissioner's Award. The Fair Commissioner looks for... well, there is absolutely no criteria for the award. Each Commissioner will find an exhibit, area, individual... that best exemplifies what is best about YOUR Fair!
