PT Testing and Certification Training Update

We are looking for people with veterinary experience to sign up for the WSDA’s Pullorum-Typhoid (PT) Tester Program.

This program will provide training for those who are willing to work with exhibitors to meet PT requirements required by the USDA for exhibition. The requirement states that a negative PT blood test must be performed within 90 days of exhibition. Testing is required for all species of birds except waterfowl, pigeons, and doves. In this program you will learn about foreign animal diseases, about PT, how to perform a whole blood rapid agglutination test to get immediate results, as well as how to obtain blood on turkeys for lab submission.

The program consists of a presentation, guidance documents, and hands on testing with live poultry. You will be required to purchase your own antigen, control, testing surface, and loop.
