To honor exceptional dedication and remarkable contributions to Washington State fairs and livestock shows, one outstanding individual will be chosen to receive the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. The award recognizes contributions over the whole of a career, rather than or in addition to single contributions. This esteemed recognition will be presented during the WSFA Annual Convention.
Eligibility
The conditions of eligibility are as follows:
- Minimum of ten (10) years of fair experience contributing something of value in the field of leadership and/or education. Distinguished achievement may include, but is not limited to, significant contributions to the knowledge and literature of fairs / livestock shows; the design or invention of material, equipment, process; or technical services; and/or outstanding service to associations, companies, and other organizations serving fairs / livestock shows.
- The nominee may be living or deceased. A deceased candidate is eligible for five (5) years following his / her death.
- Fair that submits the nomination must be a current member of the WSFA.
- Nominee’s fair must be a current member of the WSFA.
- Any nominee not selected shall be submitted for consideration each year for the following five years as long as nominee continues to meet the eligibility criteria.
Nomination
The procedure to be followed by the Awards Committee in selection of an award winner shall be as follows:
- All active fairs / livestock shows and service members shall be notified that the nomination form is available for completion.
- Nominations will be accepted from June 1 to September 15. Application form and accompanying documents may be e-mailed to WaStateFairs@outlook.com.
- The Awards Committee will convene to select the winner before October 1.
- Upon selection, the Awards Committee will reach out to the nominator to obtain supporting documents, photos, etc. to incorporate into the Annual Convention presentation.
